Confirmation pages
Use a confirmation page to tell users they have successfully completed a transaction or submitted an application.
When to use this pattern
Show a confirmation page when a user has:
- submitted an application
- completed a registration
- made a payment
- completed any significant transaction
How it works
A confirmation page should include:
- A green confirmation panel with reference number
- A summary of what happens next
- Relevant links and actions

Reference numbers
If your service generates a reference number:
- Display it prominently in the confirmation panel
- Use a clear, readable format (e.g., KAH-2024-12345)
- Tell users to save or note down the number
- Include it in the confirmation email
Confirmation emails
Always send a confirmation email that includes:
- Reference number
- Summary of what was submitted
- What happens next
- Contact information
- Link to check application status (if applicable)
What happens next
Be specific about:
- How long the process takes
- How users will be contacted
- What they might need to do
- Who to contact if they have questions
Feedback links
Include a link to give feedback about the service. Place it at the bottom of the page so it doesn't distract from the main content.
Print functionality
Consider whether users might want to print the confirmation page. If so, ensure it prints cleanly and includes all relevant information.
Accessibility
- The confirmation panel should be the first thing users see
- Ensure reference numbers are selectable for copying
- Use clear headings to structure the page
- Make sure all links have descriptive text
Do not
- Don't show a confirmation page if the transaction failed
- Don't include unnecessary navigation or links that might confuse users
- Don't auto-redirect away from the confirmation page
